In this photo I’ve used the leading lines method that your eye will follow to another area. I effectively utilized the selective colour technique to highlight the moss/plants growing from the neglected train lines that signify that they haven’t been used. Finally I’ve cropped it to remove corners of the image.
In this first image, I’ve used blur and selective colour techniques to highlight the plant life growing from this abandoned wall, making it the subject of this photo. In the background we see another old wall and what seems to be a pipe and a stream of sunlight shining on the plant, that has been presumably causing it to grow. The background light also serves as a contrast to the dark, isolated feel this topic of photography creates. Here I’ve used aperture to draw attention to the subject of the image
Here I’ve used a high contrast photorealistic HDR effect to create a higher quality image, I’ve also added a slight red tint to the windows to make them blend more with the image.
This is the original image, personally I prefer it to the edited version as it naturally had a very miserable, dark and abandoned feel, which is exactly the strong kind of atmosphere I’m trying to achieve in this unit.
I dislike this compared to the original, as the colours don’t suit the topic that is based around a bland and gloomy theme. I couldn’t find any ways to make the image better using Photoshop, except for slight edits in tone, contrast and colour.
This is the original image, I used a unique angle to capture a good photograph.
This is the HDR edited image of this photo, I couldn’t find any good HDR settings to enhance the image more than the original, however this was my favorite choice.
As I couldn’t find any good HDR techniques, I decided to attempt using selective colour technique.
I think this turned out well, as it was a sunny day, which contrasts the dark gloomy buildings that atmospheric photography often demands.
Photoshoot 3
This was the third photo shoot I went out on in an attempt to capture photos with a strong atmosphere in urban areas.
