Another great way to create mood & atmosphere photography is to use the weather. Although unpredictable, weather has a huge impact on the effect that your photos will create, whether it is sunny weather that will make your images seem lively and happy, or rainy, cloudy weather that will make the atmosphere of a photo shoot dark and dreary. Not only does the weather affect the aesthetics of a photo, but sunny weather will bring out all sorts of people like families, cyclists, couples which can create a lively, joyful atmosphere, as opposed to rainy weather that will create solitary and lonely environments - for example the fact that nobody likes to visit the beach when it is raining (except maybe for photography students) a photo of an empty beach, or even better with a lone person with an umbrella on the beach, would create a highly atmospheric photo.
This is photography that depicts weather and shows an interesting range of weather in photos. Although it can create some amazing photos, this photography is very difficult as one cannot control the weather, and choosing the right moment to capture an image of a phenomenon such as lightning, storms or rainbows. Though it will be difficult for me to capture interesting weather photography as the weather is often bland and uninteresting here. Here is more of my inspiration, weather effects can really create beautiful, atmospheric images such as these...
Below are some photos that I've taken, in which weather has a significant impact on the atmosphere created.
Last year when it snowed in my area, I went out at early hours in the morning to photograph some nearby landscapes. These photos where included in my first unit of photography but the photos I captured of the beautiful weather were so atmospheric I had to include the highlights below.
